CycleSafe Mount Alexander is on a roll with workshops galore and two fundraising efforts across Castlemaine going to the Lismore Flood Relief fund and UNICEFs Ukraine efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The CycleSafe juice bike was part of a pop-up event at The Mill on March 12, when Jo from Harvest had more oranges than she could sell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CycleSafe collected a bunch of grade six children from Castlemaine Steiner School and Kindergarten and they set to work peddling hard and selling juice in a bid to do positive action towards world issues that were concerning them, a total of $320 made in three hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Two weeks later the same and more children rode their own bikes to school and back as part of Ride2School day, raising another $560 for the Lismore Flood Relief.

You too can get involved in the vibe of \u201cbikes can heal the world\u201d by participating in two tween and teen bike workshops in Newstead and Castlemaine on April 11 and 12.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After attending the summer workshop, one teen had such a great time she is now happily riding 5kms to school and back five days a week, that\u2019s 50kms a week.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI enrolled my 11 and 12-year-old kids in Penny\u2019s CycleSafe course over the summer holidays,” Dan Park said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“By the end of the course they both came back with confidence, skills and knowledge that was thoroughly impressive.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“My kids had a great time doing the course with kids of a similar age over a couple of days and I can highly recommend the program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ashay Frances from CycleSafe said most kids of this age could ride a bike, but a few more skills could make a big difference to riding safely and independently of parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The CycleSafe workshop is a fun-filled learning experience,” Ashay said.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“That\u2019s a day out of the house on the holidays, parents, while your tween\/teen learns safe on and off-road skills, caring for their bikes and how to be a good bike citizen.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Newstead also has a bike maintenance workshop led by the self-confessed bike-nut Ashay.
