Amy Hume<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kate Lawrence is one of three Victorian Women’s Football League inductees from the Macedon Ranges and is ensuring female players leave a strong mark in history.<\/p>\n

Also a skilled sound producer, Kate will soon begin a project to document an oral history of the VWFL through a series of in-depth interviews.<\/p>\n

“This project is to ensure women’s history in the game is not lost,” Kate told the Express<\/em>.<\/p>\n

“This history is captured and will become a resource for people into the future.”<\/p>\n

Kate said fellow VWFL life members Bernadette Marantelli (inducted 1996) and Debbie Lee (2002) were among the first to signal interest in the project.<\/p>\n

Central Highlands Broadcasting has been awarded $8400 for the project in the latest round of the Local History Grants.<\/p>\n

The grants are part of a Public Record Office Victoria program to support community and history organisations to preserve, record and share Victoria\u2019s local history. It is supported through the state government’s Community Support Fund.<\/p>\n

Minister for Government Services Danny Pearson and Macedon MP Mary-Anne Thomas announced the successful applicants last week.<\/p>\n

\u201cPassionate volunteers play a vital role in preserving our local history and we\u2019re proud to back groups like Central Highlands Broadcasting in continuing this important work,\u201d Ms Thomas said.<\/p>\n

Kate aims to begin mapping out more details of the project at the end of this year. She will be working on the project with Kirby Fenwick from Siren: A Women in Sports Collective.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
