{"id":16409,"date":"2023-10-09T15:57:31","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T04:57:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/midlandexpress.com.au\/?p=16409"},"modified":"2023-10-09T15:57:33","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T04:57:33","slug":"skip-to-coach-riddell","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/centralvic.com\/midlandexpress.com.au\/sports\/2023\/10\/09\/skip-to-coach-riddell\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Skip\u2019 to coach Riddell"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Much-travelled Aaron &#8216;Skip&#8217; Bray has been appointed head football coach of Riddell for 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bray has coached Rupertswood in the Essendon District Football League\u2019s top division for the past three years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has previous experience at senior level in the Riddell League, having coached Broadford when the Kangaroos were part of the league some years ago.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bray takes over the reins at Riddell from Justin Belleville, who coached the Bombers to the 2022 premiership.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2023, Riddell bowed out in the elimination final, having been the only team to beat ultimate premiers Diggers Rest.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prior to his Australian Rules involvement as a player and coach, Bray played professional soccer in South Australia for eight years.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He captained the Australian Defence Force soccer team.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Riddell Reserves will be coached by Nic May, who has been in charge of under age teams at Bomberland.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new Under 19.5 coach is Scott Butler, who has a wealth of experience behind him, with an interest in various sports.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Bombers have expressed appreciation to head netball coach Rebecca Anstey, who has refrained from continuing coaching in 2024 due to work and family commitments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anstey enhanced the club\u2019s netball program and revitalised the Bombers last season. Riddell\u2019s A-grade side finished on top of the ladder and lost in extra time to Woodend-Hesket in the grand final.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Much-travelled Aaron
