Kyneton Men\u2019s Shed has made another donation of more than 50 wooden pull-along toys for Syrian refugee children bringing the total of the toys donated to the cause to more than 350.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The latest batch were made and painted jointly by male and female Shed members, and presented to Kim Bear, representing Aussies Knitting for War Affected Kids, at the Shed, located at 2 Riverwalk boulevard, Kyneton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms Bear said the toys would go refugee children at a newly created school in northwest Syria. They will form part of individual packages that will be presented to children aged from about three up to about 14 years of age. Each package will contain clothing, footwear, blankets, hygiene and stationery items, and fun accessories including Kyneton\u2019s pull-along toys. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms Bear told Shed members the 2022-23 shipment of goods had contained almost 105,000 individual items all packed into bundles by age and gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe packages, including your pull-along toys, are greatly appreciated by the Syrian children and bring them great joy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe young recipients live in tents in extremely harsh conditions, so the toys you have made are truly treasured. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe children have so little to entertain themselves so that toys like the ones you have made can make a world of difference to their day-to-day experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Australian Syrian Association (Victoria) manages the shipping, delivery and distribution of the packages to the children and their families.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
