It has taken months but safety measures have now been restored to a dangerous stretch of road at Barfold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 300m stretch of road is located along Heathcote-Kyneton Road and is sign-posted 100km\/h but features a dip that obscures vision for overtaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A head-on crash between two cars in April 2023 prompted double line road markings at the site to prevent overtaking shortly after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It it is believed, about three months ago, contractors undertaking roadworks at the location repainted the line-markings but had been directed in their contract to paint the road lines as they had previously been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nearby Barfold resident Phillip Don said the stretch of road was dangerous without the double-line road markings and was seeking answers from the Department of Transport and Planning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The road was painted with double lines so a head-on crash would not happen again there,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Someone who doesn’t know the road wouldn’t have a clue of the dangers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The department said they may reseal the road in February next year and may update the lines then. People can’t wait until then. It’s not a big job. If they sent a tin of paint and a roller I’d do it myself.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
