Member for Northern Victoria Region Wendy Lovell has announced she will not recontest her seat at the November 2026 state election, after 24 years of service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms Lovell made a public statement on Monday, saying “it has been a great privilege for me to represent the region in the Victorian Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Shepparton has been my home for my entire adult life and the opportunity to represent the region I care so deeply about has been the great honour of my life. I thank the people of Northern Victoria Region and North Eastern Province for electing me six times,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I am proud to have served as a Cabinet Minister in the Baillieu and Napthine Governments, as Minister for Housing, and Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development, and to have served as Deputy Leader of the Government and Opposition (Council) over a period of seven years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“I am particularly gratified that programs I introduced, such as Education First Youth Foyers, have become embedded in Victoria\u2019s housing response.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ms Lovell thanked her team, family, Liberal Party members who have served as the chair or as an executive member of her electorate council, and thousands of volunteers for their support over the years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
