Victorian fire authorities have issued a Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating for tomorrow, Friday, January 9, for the North Central, Northern Country and Wimmera districts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extreme fire ratings have been issued for the rest of Victoria, which includes the Macedon Ranges. However, this region borders those zones deemed catastrophic tomorrow. A state-wide total fire ban will also be in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Malmsbury Fire Brigade wrote on social media that out of control fires in the catastrophic zones could easily enter into the Macedon Ranges Shire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Fire knows no borders so we always prepare for the higher fire danger. On Friday, Malmsbury brigade will be prepared,” it read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“You should be too. Leaving early, before anything kicks off, is always the best option.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating means conditions will be the most dangerous for a fire and if a fire starts and takes hold, lives and homes are likely to be lost.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now is the time to enact your bushfire plan to best safeguard yourself and your family. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situation remains dynamic and communication will be provided to communities as soon as possible in line with expert advice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community members are reminded to never rely on one channel for emergency information. Connect to official sources of emergency information, including the VicEmergency App and tune into local emergency broadcasters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
