St Patrick\u2019s Day in Trentham East is a long-standing local tradition and home to one of the last remaining St Paddy\u2019s Day marches in the region. Each year, the community gathers to celebrate its strong Irish roots and keep a piece of local history alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The day begins at 11am at Sacred Heart Church, before locals and visitors walk the country road together, led by the sound of bagpipes, making their way to the Pig and Whistle Hotel. The march has become a much-anticipated part of the day, a tradition carried on through generations that continues to draw people back each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Since 1887, the Pig and Whistle Hotel has nestled on a quiet corner in Trentham East, a living reminder of the town\u2019s early history and Irish settlers. The surrounding farming country has long reminded many families of home, and St Patrick\u2019s Day offers a chance to reconnect, share stories and gather like the old days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This year, a fresh spin will be added to the celebrations, with everything centred around one main stage at the hotel, creating a lively atmosphere while still honouring the spirit of the day. People can expect live music and Irish dancing with the pub lively throughout the afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
