After a delayed start to the Country Basketball League season from the normal October tip-off, the 2020\/21 season commenced in early January with Kyneton CBL again entering two teams in the north-west conference.
\nThe season concluded on Saturday March 6 with the grand finals held in Maryborough this year.
\nKyneton CBL’s men’s and women’s teams had an outstanding season. The Kyneton women’s team did their town proud making it to the grand final for the first time in Kyneton CBL’s short history in the league.
\nThe women played Bendigo, the defending champions, with the efforts of Kyneton\u2019s Brooke Mangan (10 points), Michelle Fletcher (10 points), Amelia Jarvis (five points) and Alex Strawhorn (11 points) reflecting the teamwork and Tiger spirit the team had demonstrated all season. Bendigo was too strong in the end with the final score Bendigo 73 to Kyneton 50.
\nThe Kyneton’s men’s team made the finals for the first time and were defeated in the semi-final by the eventual premiers, Bendigo. Home game crowds have been exceptional this season, especially in the home women’s semi-final versus Maryborough, and the support of Kyneton’s sponsors and Tiger fans in these difficult times was very much appreciated by the Kyneton CBL committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
