Today the Macedon Ranges is known for its vibrant creative community but the area has always been home to creative souls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Buttlejorrk Artists group is one of the longest-running artist collectives in the area and will present its 45th exhibition in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It began in 1976 as a group of potters wishing to share their knowledge and exhibit their work together. The group’s name ‘Buttlejorrk’ refers to the original name of an area around Sunbury and Diggers Rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group has retained some of its original members as well as artists who have joined in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the years the group has expanded to include a wider range of arts including painting, sculpture, jewellery, textiles and woodwork. The individual artists background and work is varied, encompassing both traditional contemporary works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a special year for the group with the celebration of their 45th annual group show. The exhibition will include the 11 current members as well as six additional special guests from the Macedon Ranges Potters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Original Buttlejorrk member Pam Jackson is among those to feature her work. She will have about 20 pieces on show.

The Romsey potter, who teaches in Sunbury, said it was clay’s transformative nature that captivated and inspired artists.
“Once you work with clay it’s very hard to stop \u2013 it’s got so much potential,” she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“You start with a lump of dirt and end up with a beautiful piece of art that lasts for decades.”

After a challenging year the artists are looking forward to showing their work and celebrating the supportive creative community of the Macedon Ranges. All work is for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Buttlejorrk 45th Annual Group Exhibition will be held at The Old Auction House in Kyneton from November 18 to December 6. Located at 52-56 Mollison Street, Kyneton. Open seven days from 10am to 4pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
