The Kyneton Municipal Band has proudly nurtured local musicians and represented its community since the late 1850s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In that time, the band has developed a strong tradition of performing at many local events including Daffodil Festival parades, Christmas Carols, Anzac Days, citizenship ceremonies, royal visits and many other events that require stirring music to be played.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The band is made up of people ranging in age from eight to 80 years old, all united by a love of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bandmaster Hugh Davies said the members of the band came not just from Kyneton, but surrounding districts, with some travelling from as far away as Sunbury just to be part of the band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Like many other community groups, COVID-19 has affected the band greatly over the past two years, however we are hoping to have an uninterrupted year this year,” Hugh said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“If you or your children have always wanted to learn an instrument and to read music, we would love to welcome you to our band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We have many brass instruments of all sizes in our store, ranging from cornets to tubas, waiting for someone to play them.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Lessons and instruments can be provided at minimal cost to anyone that is willing to have ago.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you are an experienced brass or percussion player looking to contribute back to the community, the band would love to see you at rehearsals.
